The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate major social and cultural institutions in Australian society and their impact on clients and individuals. The possible effects and consequences of conditions and others factors will also be demonstrated in this assignment. The impacts of long-term unemployment and associated issues can also be identified that have impact on clients and others. The factors associated with age in Australian society and their impact on clients can also be identified in this paper.

1. Major Social and Cultural Institutions in Australian Society and their Societal Functions

The social and cultural institutions in Australian society can be seen as aged care system, education system, family, health system, labor market, legal system, etc. These major social and cultural institutions in Australian society play essential role or societal functions on the priority basis. The societal functions of aged care system are associated with supporting older people that needs help with their everyday living, such as housework, cooking, shopping and other supports (Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, 2012). At the same time, the societal functions of education system are related to regulate the behavior of individual with the help of better communication ideas, values and transmitting a new way of life of the new generations.

Further, the societal functions of health system can be determined as providing free or low-cost access for all people related to preventive services, such as cancer screening programs and palliative care on the priority basis. In these societal functions of health system, a comprehensive health care of a high standard can also be seen for all Australians, without considering their socioeconomic and social circumstances. The societal functions of family can be seen as an individual’s support network in which supporting each other through providing money, housing or job opportunities are common (Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, 2012). The societal functions of labor market can be identified as ensuring employees to understand their rights and roles of the duty and performance of job. Further, the societal functions of legal system are associated with delivering a fair, affordable and accessible justice system to all people in Australia.

2. Ways in which Major Institutions in Australian Society can Impact Clients

Major institutions in Australian society can impact clients as individuals and as part of community and family group with the consideration of different methods. The aged care system can impact clients as individuals and as part of community and family groups through listening to the concerns of old people and helping them personally, such as looking after old people, doing their daily work and giving them rest, providing aged care facilities, being a community service worker, etc. (South West TAFE, 2021). Further, the education system can impact clients as individuals and as part of community and family groups with making a system of equality in development, longer their life expectancy, increasing their engagement in more civic activity.

The family can impact clients as individuals and as part of community and family groups through reducing their financial burden and stress basically in the case of caring for older relatives. Addressing mental and emotional fatigue when performing carer roles are also an effective way to impact clients as individuals and as part of community and family groups. Now, the health system can also impact clients by maintaining reasonable health, keeping most people healthy and increasing their ability to carry out their employment (South West TAFE, 2021).

Now, the labour market institution also impact the clients as individuals and as part of community and family groups through supporting access to health, housing, education and other essential services. In the same ways, legal system impacts the clients through setting out rules to give justice equally to individuals and as part of community and family groups.

3. Possible Effects and Consequences of Conditions and Experiences of Inequality on Clients

Inequality in society is generally determined based on social determinants, such as education level, employment status, ethnicity, age, socioeconomic status, gender, geographic location, etc. Based on these social determinants, most of the individuals, families and communities are positioned in society as inequality (Holmes, 2013). The clients as individuals and as part of community and family groups are generally related to the lesbian, gay, bi or transgender, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders, migrants, women, etc. These clients usually face mental health issues that enhance the possible effects and consequences of this conditions and experiences as inequality that can be seen as decreased social, mental, and emotional as well as physical wellbeing.

At the same time, reduced ability to participate in citizenship-based activities, poverty, and homelessness are some other possible effects and consequences of conditions and experiences of inequality on clients as individuals and as part of community and family groups. Additionally, the possible effects and consequences of conditions and experiences of inequality on clients can also be identified as isolation and reduced life expectancy (Holmes, 2013). Apart from this, the possible effects and consequences of conditions and experiences of inequality on clients are also related to family disruption and breakdown, crime, and drug and alcohol use effectively.

4. Impacts of Long-term Unemployment and Associated Issues on Clients

Unemployment is the result of different range of factors that are generally determined as poor education, geographical isolation, chronic disease, and lack of resources. Social dysfunction and generational welfare dependency are also factors of unemployment. Unemployment affects the life of individuals, families and communities in Australia that raise several consequences and issues for them. In Australia, the unemployment rate is identified through measuring the number of people that actively look or need a job and calculating a percentage of the labour force in the country (Reserve Bank of Australia, 2022). On the other side, there are impacts of long-term unemployment and associated issues on clients as individuals and as family members in Australia that can be seen s low self-esteem, loss of identity, loss of social network and support, and boredom. These impacts of long-term unemployment and associated issues on clients increase the economic issues to the people and they live their life in poor condition.

At the same time, the impacts of long-term unemployment and associated issues on clients as individuals and as family members can also be seen as family disruption and breakdown and increased risk of mortality and morbidity. Such types of impact on clients due to long-term unemployment make them criminal or move them to do other illegal work (Reserve Bank of Australia, 2022). Drug and alcohol use can also be possible because of long-term unemployment of the people.

5. Factors Associated with Age in Australian society and their Impact on Clients

Australian society always gets affected by social and cultural institutions. The social and cultural institutions have different systems for aged care, education, heath, family, work, etc. In these entire systems, the age is directly linked to health and employment. At this stage, the discrimination with the age-related stereotypes can be seen in Australian society that causes both positive and negative discrimination with the people. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the community service workers to understand the barriers that pose age-related stereotypes in Australian society effectively (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 2022). The factors associated with age in Australian society and that have impact on the clients as individuals and in family and community settings are nutrition, physical activity, general health condition, financial resources, etc.

The nutritional factors affect the age of the people by improving their health condition when they get proper foods. However, malnutrition affect the age of the clients as individuals and in family and community settings by leaving them weak and unhealthy. The physical activity makes the clients strong, but inactivity of the people leads towards early aging sign and weakness. Moreover, general health condition also impact on the clients as individuals and in family and community settings through increasing their happiness and working capabilities (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 2022). The financial resources, such as money help the aged people to arrange their everyday needs, but lack of this resource make them poor and helpless in the society.

Conclusion

From the above analysis of major social and cultural institutions in Australian society and their functions, it can be stated that it has large impacts on clients and individuals. The possible effects and consequences of conditions and others factors also play essential role to support the clients. This paper is effective to understand all aspects of Australia institutions and society that affect the life of the people.
