Assessment Description Twice throughout the course of studying the subject you are required to reflect on what you are learning in the subject and to identify how your knowledge is developing. This is a very personal exercise and may involve you reporting on what you know you don’t know. Most learners don’t know what they don’t know at the beginning of studying a new subject. You will also be required to reflect on and evaluate your learning strategies and devise new strategies to better meet the demands of the subject if appropriate.
Detailed Submission Requirements Reflections: 300 words (min.) – Each 15%

· Submit reflection in either a Word document or PDF file format to the submission assessment link on Turnitin.

· You are reflecting on what you have learned and how you might apply your newfound knowledge and skills in achieving your personal or work-related goals.

· Reflections should demonstrate evidence of developing understanding of the subject, demonstrate evidence of sustained and disciplined effort to study, and demonstrate evidence of self-improvement and evaluation of your learning strategies.

Special consideration Students whose ability to submit or attend an assessment item is affected by sickness, misadventure or other circumstances beyond their control, may be eligible for special consideration. No consideration is given when the condition or event is unrelated to the student’s performance in a component of the assessment, or when it is considered not to be serious.

Introduction

ERP i.e Enterprise Resource Planning System is a method of Planning, Organising and maintaining various Business process systems by using a particular software suite, normally called as ERP software tool. Basic use of ERP( Chien.T & Syue.J (Taiwan), software tool is to collect the information from the large business database and perform the day to day activities of gathering, planning and maintaining the information related to the business for smooth functioning of Supply Chain Management Network. The ERP software is often purchased from ERP vendors. ERP vendors are responsible for responsible for creation of a particular software that could manage the various business process activities and then they deal with procurement of the above software to the client.

Main Content

Traditionally business System development life cycle (SLDC) was used for planning, designing and organising business information systems(Motiwalla.L & Thompson.J). Though SLDC was an effective method for developing business information system, but ERP when compared with SLDC gives more robust implementation of business information system which makes use of packaged system software for implementation of Business Information Systems. For Implementation of ERP technology in a particular Organisation, selection of ERP vendors plays an important role. Out of various vendors available SAP is one of the best available vendors as it offers business solutions for all types of enterprises. Once the ERP software is purchased, the main problem lies with implementation as it is little tricky, so by acquiring training of about 90 days this technology can be easily implemented which can do wonders.

Conclusion

Though ERP is one of the effective method of organising business information system, but the software suite is very costly, but once implemented, this technology yields profits and improves the Supply Chain Network, hence it will not be wrong to say that ERP is an one time investment, which on successful implementation just yields profits and achieves the customer satisfaction, which is the ultimate goal of every organisation.

Reflection 2 (Week 9 – Week 11)

Project Management

Introduction

Project Management is an effective method of developing a project. It deals with the deep planning of the project to be developed right from the pre-designing phase to the maintaining phase. Development of project depends upon the project team, where the project manager leads the team and the other members are assigned the various tasks which work together for the successful development of a project.

Main Content

Project Management involves the various phases of planning, designing, implementing and controlling. There are various challenges involved in the project development life cycle. The main challenge lies in ERP vendor selection. For successful development of a particular project organizational change and business process re-engineering plays an important role, as this process plays a major role in ERP implementation technique. This method deals with creating a awareness regarding Organizational Project Management Maturity Model which has the 3 main phases like knowledge, assessment and improvement (Motiwalla.L & Thompson.J) . Sometimes this change Management is essential for enhancing the overall quality management so as to reduce the risks and increase the benefits. For successful implementation of the above technique is essential, which requires commitment of senior management through well developed collaboration Plan. Another main phase in project management is ethics and security management. Ethics deals with doing the things which are morally correct, this security management can be achieved by outsourcing, offsourcing and selecting a SaaS model for cloud computing purposes, as these methods plays an important role in ERP implementation. The last phase deals with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) which makes use of various CRM process and technologies like marketing, security, sales so as to achieve the main motive of customer satisfaction.

Conclusion

Project Management is very essential for successful development of a project. ERP implementation plays an important role in project development life cycle as it organises the Business Information System very well, which is often achieved by change management process. Security and ethics management are key factors for successful development of a project. Once the project is developed, the main task is CRM, which can be achieved by various CRM tools and techniques to achieve the main function of customer satisfaction, which is the ultimate goal of every organization.

Conclusion

The above assignment deals with writing two reflections of nearly 300 words each. Reflection normally means brief highlights of knowledge gained in studying a particular topic. Introduction, Main content and Conclusion are the main outlines of any reflective paper. 11 lecture slides were provided and the task was to write one reflection from week 1 to week 8 and other reflection from week 9 to week 11. The lecture slides of week 1 to week 8 contain the information on ERP and the remaining slides contained the information on project management. Hence accordingly, the two reflections are written one highlighting the knowledge about ERP and other about Project Management.
