In the present time, each and every type of organizations are looking for the growth and success at the global and national level. They are investing huge amount in order to bring innovative leaders within the company so that they can help the company in the achievement of strategic objectives, vision and mission. It is important for a company to pay attention on attracting and retaining talented, skilled and innovative leaders so that they can assist the company in forming of innovative ideas, process and systems within the company. The key purpose of this paper is to highlight the key benefits, roles, importance and functions of leadership in the total success and growth of the company. In this paper, the concepts related to consultants and leadership would be explained. Moreover, key differences among these two will be analyzed to understand the importance of strong leadership in the company.

Defining Consultation and Leadership

Consultant: A consultant is a professional individual or expert or specialist who offers suggestions, advice, and guidance in an area of specialization. A consultant is more creative and analytical who provide specific advice to clients on the regular basis. A consultant is more accountable to provide professional suggestion or advice to a client that needs support in his or her professional life. A range of professional services are offered by a consultant in the area of business. They charge higher fees against their services in the form of consultant charges. In the present time, most of consultant operates individually so there is no conflict among the client and their services. On the other hand, a consultant has to operate its functions in a professional manner so that need of clients can be fulfilled. At the same time, they provide consulting service to clients on the basis of their opinion and analysis. Consulting can be defined as the practices of offering a third party with expertise on a matter in exchange for a fee (Adnan, Akram & Akram, 2013).

Leader and Leadership: A leader can be defined as an individual who have ability to influence the attitude, behavior and thinking of others such as: employees, followers, team members. A leader is always looks into better ways to improve the things so that organizational people can be moved towards the common goals, objectives and better vision. At the same time, it is also analyzed that, leaders works towards making the vision a reality by putting people first. Additionally, leadership is defined as an art of motivating or encouraging a group of people towards the attainment of common business goals and objectives. A strong leadership helps a company setting of specific goals, objectives, strategies, policies and methods.

Organisations don’t Need Consultants they just Need Strong Leadership

It is true that, in the present time of competitive and globalize business era, today’s organisations don’t need consultants they just need strong leadership. It is because a strong leadership allows a company to create and develop strategic vision, mission and long term objectives for the future. In the same way, strong leader provides guidance for the future of a company. But, a consultant can’t form specific purposes for the company as he or she can only provide advice in a specific area or operation about how to bring development or process. On the other hand, strong leadership also allows a company to develop long term strategic plan by introducing innovative changes. This helps in achieving better future outcomes or results (Quintana, Park, & Cabrera, 2015).

At the same time, it is also analyzed that, a consultant can only provide suggestion to leader about how to frame the issues that the leader is accountable for solving. But, strong leadership is play key role in solving a range of company’s business issues and problems by forming specific policies, norms and standards. Simply, it can be said that, a consultant can only frame the business issues and provide the roadmaps. But, a leader has to invest most of time in solving such business issues in order to attain strategic business objectives and goals. In the same way, leaders are accountable for execution of specific solutions within the company (Porter, & Wimmer, 2012).

 A consultant is focus on hard skills but leaders have soft skills that help them in motivating others towards the attainment of common goals and objectives. Moreover, it is also analyzed that, a consultant is work in a company with departments and teams. But, strong leadership is focus on the overall strategy and company’s vision. It is also play key role in developing overall strategies but a consultant is only work on individual issues. Most of companies are investing on improving leadership abilities so that employees can help the company in attaining the competitive advantages. But, consultants cannot help the company in gaining competitive scope. For example, a leader is focus on end results but consultants focus on job efficiency (Kelly, Lowndes & Tolson, 2012).

Along with this, it is also analyzed that, a consultant can only give ideas about how to execute the best ideas within the company. But strong leadership is brings new ideas, and innovative thinking so that competitive advantages can be attained over competitors in the market. Additionally, it is also analyzed that, a consultant can only introduce small process changes for the specific goals. But, a leader helps a company in introducing of all structure and changes.

A consultant is accountable for making the system better but strong leadership makes innovative leaders and help in change management and strategic plan. Moreover, strong leadership is responsible for creating individual growth plan which is important for the future success of a company. But a consultant can create process. At the same time, it is also analyzed that, strong leadership play key role in developing of strategic partnership with stakeholders but a consultant can develop relationship with front line managers. Finally, it can be said that, strong leadership is not only important but also essential for a company for a number of reasons. For case, it make a company more effective and competitive in the globalized business era (Dirani, Abadi, Alizadeh, Barhate, Garza, Gunasekara, & Majzun, 2020).

Conclusion

On the basis of above discussion, it can be concluded that, leaders are more important than consultants because they help a company in attaining strategic objectives and attaining competitive advantages in the market. In addition to this, it is also found that, leadership is an essential for the growth and success of a company and allows a company to be more competitive in the industry. Moreover, it can be summarized that, there are several specific differences exists among leadership and consultation. Finally, it can be said that, a company can’t survive in the market without strong leadership. So, it is suggested that, a company should invest in its leaders in order to attain long term strategic objectives in an effective and proper manner.
